Local artist, Jessica Picanzo, is a bit of a celebrity in Brockton. Over the past year, she has been responsible for the creations and design of two beautiful murals that can be found around the city.
The first is the Make a Difference mural outside Brockton Community Access. There is a great article about Jessica in The Enterprise : Brockton artist explores creativity — and tells a story — in her first community mural, that talks about her passion behind the mural and the discoveries that brought her to pursuing a degree in fine art.
The second is the mural on Fredrick Douglass Ave that pays homage to Fredrick Douglass and the Grayson Hotel. Jessica, along with 24 Hr. Power, Inc and NeighborWorks Housing Solutions worked together to design and transform this into a reality, adding an impactful piece of art to the downtown. NeighborWorks Housing Solutions is in the process of transforming this beautiful building into affordable housing.
